Here is a shout out to all the friends I met on Saturday at the Rahway Library.\u00a0 All I can say is WOW!\u00a0 I had so much fun reciting poetry with you.\u00a0 Sandy Carson, who works at the library, invited me to speak as a compliment to her class, “Cooks and Books.”\u00a0\u00a0 Well, we had a blast.\u00a0\u00a0There was a nice crowd, and both the kids and the parents were so into it, shouting the word zucchini at the top of their lungs and then whispering the word very softly.\u00a0 I recited lots of poems from\u00a0my book Poems on Fruits and Odes to Veggies<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0Gang, visit the link called “My Poetry\u00a0Books” on this site, scroll to the bottom, and let me know if you would be\u00a0interested in owning this book.\u00a0\u00a0If so, I\u00a0will let you know when\u00a0it becomes available.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0So, we tasted food, and learned about jicima and parsnips to name a few.\u00a0 Here are some pictures from our fine event.<\/p>\n

Finally, the children used a process called brainstorming to write a poem of their own.\u00a0 It is wonderful.\u00a0Read it and enjoy!<\/p>\n

Apples are red and yummy to eat<\/p>\n

Eggplant, papaya are really sweet<\/p>\n

Trucks are big and Mississippi too<\/p>\n

My puppy is big, how about you?<\/p>\n

Bananas are yellow and yummy to eat<\/p>\n

but first you pull off the skin<\/p>\n

Chocolate is brown and so are you<\/p>\n

My eyes are brown too<\/p>\n

Pears are yummy and good to eat<\/p>\n

I ate broccoli, what a treat!<\/p>\n

My puppy ate the birthday cake<\/p>\n

When I was only nine<\/p>\n

My puppy rolled in his bowl<\/p>\n

And fell on my fine wine<\/p>\n
