Space, Natural History, American History and National Gallery of Art Museums.\u00a0 We visited the Capitol, with a guided tour and all.\u00a0 We entered the National Archives and saw, with our own two eyes, the Declaration of Independence!\u00a0 I mean, I couldn&#8217;t have been more moved.\u00a0 We saw the Washington Monument, the Lincoln, Jefferson, WW II and Vietnam War Memorials, and felt the real spirit of our country at each turn.\u00a0 The whole vacation was a historical treat.\u00a0 And of course, what visit to Washington, DC would be complete without seeing the White House?\u00a0 Well, it is magnificent.\u00a0 And right there, on the South Lawn, I saw it&#8230;.the White House Kitchen Garden!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"slideshowPicture\" style=\"visibility: visible; position: relative;\" src=\"http:\/\/images2e.snapfish.com\/232323232%7Ffp537%3B4%3Enu%3D3277%3E%3A%3B3%3E%3A%3A%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D344%3A778%3B%3A632%3Anu0mrj\" alt=\"\" width=\"589\" height=\"441\" name=\"slideshowPicture\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">I\u00a0couldn&#8217;t believe it.\u00a0 I have blogged about the Kitchen Garden.\u00a0 I have blogged about Michelle Obama planting this garden with the kids from the Bancroft Elementary School in 2009.\u00a0 And then, there I am, looking in awe at the White House and right there, I see it.\u00a0 A plot of land planted with food for the First Family to actually eat!\u00a0 How inspiring to see, first hand, that which I had been talking about.\u00a0 So, here, for all you to see, is my photo of the Kitchen Garden and the sign that accompanies it.\u00a0 I was proud to see that the garden is growing, and hopefully so is our nations&#8217; knowledge of healthy foods.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">If you are growing spinach in your garden (or feeling adventurous to buy fresh spinach at the grocery store) try this recipe:<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Beans &amp; Greens<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Pour two tablespoons of extra virgin oil oil in heated pan.\u00a0 Chop up two cloves of garlic and saute\u00a0in oil over medium heat(but don&#8217;t burn).\u00a0 Add four cups of fresh spinach (or one package of frozen) and cook until wilted (if frozen, cook until thawed).\u00a0 Add one can of white beans and cook over stove until heated through.\u00a0 Then, serve it up.\u00a0 YUM!\u00a0 Let me know what you think!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Back to spreading the word on healthy foods&#8230;I know that I am very busy the next few weeks visiting schools and bookstores, talking about my book <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Poems on Fruits &amp; Odes to Veggies<\/span> and introducing kids to some new healthy food choices.\u00a0 The following is my upcoming schedule.\u00a0 Can\u2019t wait to see you at some of these events.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Tuesday, April 13<\/strong> &#8211; Glenwood Elementary School &#8211; Short Hills, NJ.\u00a0 I have been invited to the school by librarian, Shea Stansfield, to read from\u00a0my book and get kids\u00a0interested in poetry and healthy eating.\u00a0\u00a0I can\u2019t wait to meet the eager learners at Glenwood!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Tuesday, April 13<\/strong> &#8211; Barnes &amp; Noble at Riverside Square in Hackensack, NJ.\u00a0 I have been invited to this Barnes and Noble as part of Teacher Appreciation Week.\u00a0 I will talk to a great group of educators and tell them how they can use my book to promote the marriage of healthy eating and poetry in their schools!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Thursday, April 15<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/store-locator.barnesandnoble.com\/store\/2646?subtype=detailList&amp;month=&amp;day=ANY&amp;sat=0#content\">Barnes &amp; Noble, Princeton, NJ<\/a> &#8211; The time of this event is 1:30 p.m. and is open to the public.\u00a0 I sure hope to see you there.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Monday, April 26<\/strong> &#8211; Stillman School, Tenafly, NJ &#8211; I have been invited to the school and can\u2019t wait to recite poetry with all the Stillman School eager learners!<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><strong>Friday, May 21<\/strong> &#8211;
