Blog: Harrington Park Shout Out

Hello to all my kindergarten friends in Harrington Park, NJ.  What fun I had visiting with you yesterday and reciting poetry from my book, Poems on Fruits and Odes to Veggies.  When you shouted the word zucchini, I thought the roof of your school was going to fly right off!  And how well you were able to whisper zucchini too!  I enjoyed introducing you to some new fruits and vegetables, like acorn squash and parsnips, and also reciting poems about some of your “old” favorites too, like grapes and bananas.  And together, you wrote a fantastic poem.  I posted it at my Poem of the Day…and here it is too:

I Like Fruit by, Harrington Park Kindergarteners

I see an x-ray

My favorite fruit is strawberries

My favorite fruit is bananas

I see a berry and I’m going to eat it

I see an apple tree

I see an orange

I like eating grapes

I like blueberry muffins to eat for dessert

I never ate a pepper

I like to eat carrots

Thanks for sharing your day with me.
