Wow! I visited the Todd Elementary School yesterday, March 8th, and what a great time I had. Hello to all my friends! We shouted the word zucchini at the top of our lungs. We clapped out a pepper poem. We learned about parsnips, acorn squash and even more! And the timing couldn’t have been more perfect as March is National Nutrition Month. And as a special surprise to me, the kindergarteners recited my Watermelon poem to me and the first graders recited my Carrot poem. What a delight!
The brilliant children also worked together to write their own group poems. These poems are so much fun and as I promised the kids, here they are, posted on my site!
I LIKE TO PLAY – by, Todd Kindergarteners
I like to play war with cards
I like to play with puppies
I like cheeseburgers made with eggs
Giraffes are silly when their necks are short
I hear birds
I eat french fries with my cheeseburger
I like horses
I like butterflies on bread
GRAPES!
TOILETS ARE HORRIBLE by, Todd First Graders
I went to the toilet
I wear a dress
I like to play ball
A green apple is sour
Fruit is yummy in my tummy
I saw a chicken in the bathroom
I clean my ear wax out with a kitty cat
I rip flags
Purple grapes are great
When you peel a banana it is good
Great job, kids!! Don’t you just love these poems?
Remember to celebrate National Nutrition Month and also, remember, healthy eating starts with a poem!
